teams of 4 2010

with the collapse of the league this year for varios reasons , here are my ideas on payouts and venues. 6 venues, trinity, cider, viaduct, bullocks, landsend and avalon , all over by xmas.
entry would be £144 which is the peg fee, up front for all the venues, then £100 compulsory team pools on the day out of which £20 taken from that which is £5 per angler per match giving o/all team paouts at the end of 600/440/340/240 and 80 for 5th.
individuals on the day 150/130/100/80/60 for overall to 5 not top carp weight !
silvers on the day 85/65/45
and 40 quid every 5 pegs all payouts by default one prize one angler.
the anglers i have spoken to have all seemed more than interested in it going this way and already 6 of the teams which pulled out this year have said they will definately be up for it again next year on those terms.
you will have noticed the absence of stafford from the venues its not that i have a problem with the place it just turns into an expensive weekend costing the best part of 200 quid if you are to do it properly with bait , bits booze and digs and not forgetting fuel. if it was 50 miles closer it wouldnt be a problem cos andy and debbie have one of the best run and fish filled fisheries in the country, and andy appreciates that it is a long way to go in the present financial climate. cos the 200 quid for that weekend is probably 50% or more of the weekly take home pay of a lot of the people taking part, i did hear yesterday that andy is going to run a 2 day pole only on the league dates this year, so anyone interested give andy a ring on 01805804360, and to be fair i wouldnt be suprised if he didnt get a few for it. he might have to change his tape recording at the draw though from the usual of cast the lead 40 mtrs to the bar and fire 8,s or 10,s at it with a 10mm or conker on a hair lol
so anyone interestd give me a ring at the shop or comment on here

  2. Rip Off: The best payouts from my experience on commercials is the way the Viaduct winter league is paid out:

Top two per Lake (in your case top two in the section)

Then optional pools for Overall weight and Silvers weight paying out percentage of takings: 45, 30, 15, 10% with no defaults - if you win you win. Minimum payout for last £20

As you fish mostly fish Rip off matches I understand why you say same people win - particularly Avalon and Landsend. This is because the silver pool is treated as an "Accidental Silvers Pool". Most of the anglers fish for Carp and if the accidentally catch a few silvers well the might be a chance of your pools money back ( meant your rather than their). There are a few who pay the full pools and fish for the lower silvers payouts e.g. The Gimp. I accept that on a few occasions the Gimp may be the only person intentionally fishing for the Silvers. However, until organisers treat Silvers and Carp equal as per the Carps AC Wednesday matches where there are equal payouts and both the Carp and Silvers and are contested by an equal amount of anglers then you will have this imbalance.

By the way can't you use a top three (or have you fallen on them again)!! If you want lessons I will show you how to catch 200lb of vermin in three hours and how to beat Rip Off - but not at his game!!

  4. you can do that when the pools are listed as seperate when its all in it makes it a bit more difficult.with the viaduct payout you generally get between 16 and 22 picking up with 80 fishing on the way i pay out you would get 20 paid out of 60 and by default more get a bite of the cherry which encourages people to fish. ithink a 30% payout does this, and as i read it you still seem in favour of the same payouts on silvers and carp, but the out and out silver fish anglers arent really team players unlike me LOL

  5. i think it is getting towards a them and us thing with silvers and carp. and i certainly dont agree with equal payouts for both. and i dont see it working to well with the carps weds match as quite a few have been poorly attended or cancelled with the viaduct matches being the best supported, i wonder why. and in team matches why have a silver pool at all as at the end of the day you are there to catch as much as possible to gain the most points whether its carp, silvers or a combination of the 2, comments please

  7. Rip Off if you remember the Silvers in the SW started when anglers fishing for Carp had a bad day but accidentally caught a few Silver fish - venues are still peggy with respect to Carp - although we now have the experience to realise they can be caught from most pegs. It takes about 30 minutes to realise it's not a Carp day for coin i.e. your not going to finish in the top four (perhaps last hour). So with a Silver pool of equal payout there is something to go out for. But you have to go tooled and baited up for this change - I wonder if you had changed to Silvers last Sunday at Avalon whether you would have coined up. It's important to me not only to pick up coin (believe this or not)but to have competed for it, It's great when the likes of Darren, Nicky, Charlie, Gimp and Harry Potter, etc... are going for the Silvers. I believe if there are equal payouts then you will find that more anglers will fish these matches and be more competitive ALL ROUND.

A remember the two anglers that came first and second in the Veals League last year initially targeted Silvers!!

As with Carps AC you Know the reasons for the demise, it's nothing to do with the Silvers as the demise is a;so affecting Sunday matches that is still treating Silvers anglers as accidental.

PS: You will sell more bait!

  8. mike i go fishing to catch fish silvers or carp trouble is i cant catch either as you know i just think it is sad that someoneweighs in 50lb picks up nothing when someone else weighs 5lb and picks up money the other problem is carp being weighed as silvers eg:F1 and crucions

I do understand how you feel re 5lb Silvers - F1's etc... I have been there!! Why not specifically fish for silvers and see how rewarding it can be.

  10. i do understand where you are coming from cos i do enjoy catching them and have even picked up silvers money by intent but i still cant agree with it paying out the same as the top averall weight on the day

  12. I don't fish Carps AC matches anymore simply because I didn't like the payout. I was brought up on fishing matches where the winner of the match won the most money. As far as I can recall Silvers was started on venues like Viaduct where there are certain pegs you will not frame from, and so it gave some anglers something to fish for. For that very reason I do not agree that the Silvers should be paid the same as the overall winners. If you want the payout the same then make it a silvers only match.

Like it or not, commercial fisheries have carp in them and the majority of anglers will target them, becuase in most matches the winner will require carp.

I love my silverfish fishing, however solely focusing on silvers isnt necessarily the best option and you may not be getting the most out of the peg and therefore not providing the team with the highest number of points.

Following Veals withdrawal of sponsership for this year, I had intended to change the payout similar to Tony's suggestion, becuase thats what the majority wanted. In some ways reducing the silverfish payout, may force some anglers to change their approach and fish for the highest weight & points, instead of simply fishing for themselves.
