chilton trinity , wildmarsh lake

it was good to see shipham cafe open again and i must say it was a very good breakafast, so it is definately near the top of the breakkie stops for now,
getting to the fishery it was apparent that the fish had just finished spawning so we were going to be in for a dour day. trig edmunds drew for me and handed me peg 30 which is the same peg as last time, its a right flier for skimmers and last time i had 2 carp and a tench down the edge to give me second spot, being out on a spit you have a lot of water to play with but getting to the peg it looked decidedly fishless, with most of the carp around the corner to my right from peg 25 round to about peg 7,
i set up rigs for hard and soft pellet at 14 and for 3 spots as its the same depth , a meat rig for the margin and a caster rig for close and a pellet wag just in case, oh yes and a paste rig as the bigger skimmers aswell as the carp seem to like it, for company i had steve seager on 29 and he had much the same rig wise set up.
at the start i fed all lines and went out on the pellet wag just in case i could get an early mug fish, but as there were hardly any showing in this part of the lake i wasnt holding my breath, and i wasnt dissapointed after 15 biteless minutes that was up the bank, i did try it again at odd times when i could see a cruiser but they werent interested, the pole line wasnt much better as in the next hour i had 2 small skimmers on hard pellet over softened 4,s, there just didnt seem to be any fish there as there was no fizzing which you normally get on this venue, even when we fished it back in march it was bubbleing. halfway through i went down the edge and had a couple of liners before i hooked a 10lb skinny common so perhaps things were looking up, but no i had to wait until 15 mins from the end for another bite down there and i missed what i would say was an unmissable bite, and with it fishing hard i thought that would be my only chance of picking up a bit of coinage, by now steve seager had sloped off home as all he could muster were a few eels and small roach on caster, my caster line gave me one bite and that was from an 8oz eel, and that was my lot really, i could get bites on the long pole line on hard and soft pellet and corn but when i did connect it was just a small roach on the end, i weighed 12.2 which was not going to be any good today.
1st went to andy hemdrow on peg 9 with 6 carp for 33lb, all taken fishing meat down to empty peg 8
2nd adrian jeffery 32.13 peg 21
3rd mike west 32.6 peg 11
4th paul elmes 24.8 peg 63
5th craig edmunds 15.4 peg 14
6th dave roper 14.4 peg 67
silvers
glen calvert 11.4 on peg 57, lots of plippy roach and rudd on caster in the edge on his topset
i think it was just down to the rigors of spawning as to why it didnt fish also what fish were feeding had loads of spawn to munch on which obviously tastes much better than anything we had to offer.
