weds open landsend fishery

with 19 booked in we used the match lake and the carpark bank of speci, after the way it fished at the weekend a draw on the match lake was preferred, but mat tomes handed me peg 36 which is halfway down the lake, for company i had occasional wednesday angler mike nicholls on 35 and and the brean gypsy roger andoniou on 38.
when i have been on this peg before i have normally managed to catch carp tight to the island on pellet but of late it hasnt really happened for the anglers drawing it, with it showing more as a silvers peg with lots of chub over by the bushes, so what do i do, ignore the chub and set up the pellet rig for over with a 16 b960 on .18, a soft pellet rig for 11mtrs on .14 with a 18 8313 and a meat rig for the margin on .18 with a xedion 14 hook.
at the start i cupped in softened micro,s at 11 mtrs at 1 and 11 o,clock angles fired some 6mm to the far bank, began feeding meat in the margin and just in case the silvers went i started feeding caster close in on the topset range, and started plopping meat into the margin.
onto the soft pellet line at the start, and after 10 mins both mike and i hadnt had a bite, very worrying, then i had a roach then a skimmer then i hooked a big carp which i lost under the bushes in front of mike against the island, which mike probably had a bit of a chuckle at, but sport certainly wasnt electric, after an hour and with a couple more skimmers and roach in the net, i came in on the topset with caster, first fish was a 2lb skimmer then a 8oz hybrid which i dropped off trying to swing then a near 10lb carp took a liking to the single caster, then that was the end to my caster fishing close in as i never had another bite there. back out on the soft pellet and a couple of small skimmers and smaller roach(to small to breed probably)so i went over on the pellet but i wasnt expecting to much as you normally get carp slurping up the bank but with no signs i didnt expect to much, and i was right , all i could catch were chub of varying sizes, the chub seem to spawn very well in this lake as you catch fish from a few inches up to over 3lb, i dont think there are to many lakes in the country where the chub actually spawn, it probably has something to do with the ammount of cover on the island and the aerater send a very strong flow down the side of the island, but the carp didnt want to play ball for me today, i dont think there were to many in this area of the lake as adrian jeffery on 33 and ed wynne on 31 were catching , also as the match went on des shipp on 40 was splashing around a bit , i did end up with 5 carp plus an 11lb grass carp and 16lb of silvers for 59.15 for nothing today.
1st went to ed wynne with 112.4 mainly caught on pellet over to the island on 31
2nd adrian jeffery on 33 with 93.13
3rd des shipp on 40 91.15
4th chris davis on 22 87.8
5th andy curry on 1 , 85lb
6th tom thick on 19, 79.4
silvers
tom thick with 25.12 on peg 19 on soft pellet at 13 mtrs
