we used cary and lodge today and with 35 booked in it looked as if it was going to be a good match. and we werent dissapointed, good to see tim ford back out on the bank after his hospital cock ups, into the draw tin and out comes 53 which is the corner peg on lodge on the carpark bank, a good peg with a corner to fish into with an overhanging tree between you and the angler around the corner on 73, i was hoping for a silver fish angler to turn up on the peg but no, trig edmunds aka craig bomber ebmunds after the previous nights bare knuckle bust up rolls up to the peg, so that would work against us as we would be targetting the same shoal that lives under the tree and against the far bank, i set up a meat rig for against the tree, a pellet rig for up the side of the free , a meat rig for each side down the edge and a pellet rig for 17 mtrs to reeds at the end of the lake.
ther meat rig was a waste of time to the tree as was the pellet line up the side of the tree so no more about them then, so 90 mins in and it was time to go to the 17mtr line as there was some movement over there, then the start of a torrid match began with every fish i hooked kiting along the bank and going through the dozens of branches that were on the bottom, with the fish iether breaking the line or depositing my hook into the branch, all this happening much to the amusement of trig who was by now catching becent carp down his margin on meat, i did get 3 carp down the edge to my right and 1 to my left and 7 from the 17 mtr line but my fish seemed to be smaller than everyone elses as my 11 carp went 68.9 and trigs went 110.12 and dave white on 56 had his best carp to date with a lovely common which went 20.11 on meat down the edge, but none of us did any good as cary fished its head off with des(i think i got flu)shipp on 97 taking 275.2 on the shallow wag and 8mm pellet
2nd went to des,s new travelling partner chris davis with 178lb on 85
3rd tom mangnal 170.4 on 96
4th dan white 160.2 peg 94
5th tom thick 153.14 peg 86
6th clayton hudson 121.1 peg 64
silvers
john bradford on 90 with 29.3 of mainly tench on his top 5
2nd tim ford 28.7
all in all i had a stresssful time but at least the next person who draws 53 shouldnt have to much trouble with branches as most of them are now on the bank.
this weds we are back at acorn and on sunday its back to wildmarsh lake at chilton trinity so ring me at the shop to book in for either on 01179517250
